Our brand-new website!
Our brand-new website!

We are very pleased to announce that our brand new website is up and running! The clean layout will hopefully make on-line browsing easier and more enjoyable for you. We are also in the process of adding stunning new images, courtesy of Danni Winmill, to our jewellery listings. This will give you a chance to view your favourite pieces with more clarity before you make a purchase.

The Wedding Expo was a success, with a great turn-out, and plenty of interest in Celtic Connexions' wedding rings.

As mentioned last time, Bob decided to run a promotion at the Wedding Expo. Everyone who subscribed to the Celtic Connexions newsletter on the day went into the draw to win a Sterling Silver Claddagh ring. YOU CAN BE IN TO WIN ONE TOO! Just "like" the Celtic Connexions page on Facebook, or if you are already a fan, just post a comment on our wall, and you will go in the draw to win! There will be a chance to win each week throughout July.

As you probably know, the Claddagh ring is worn by women and men, and can symbolise any relationship from friendship, to marriage. Many people where the Claddagh ring in honour of their Irish heritage. The heart represents love, the hands holding the heart represent friendship, and the crown atop the heart represents loyalty. We have a range of sizes and styles in stock. The competition is for a Sterling Silver Claddagh ring.

Do check out the Celtic Connexions Blog, which you can find a link to on the front page of our website. The latest entry gives information about the Tartan Day coming up in Hamilton next month.

We look forward to seeing you on Facebook!

All the best,

Heidi Brown

Bob Wallace.

Hello friends,

We trust you have taken our advice and tried warming yourselves up with a good dose of lively Celtic music! Despite the grey clouds and wet weather, things are still buzzing here at Celtic Connexions.

Why not join the buzz and display your heritage with pride - check out our new range of flags. We have Clan Crest flags, Celtic Nations flags, and giant national flags available.

Bob has exciting news regarding Nova Scotia, follow this link to find out more, and maybe you will join in the excitement. Perhaps you want a Nova Scotia flag? Well, we sell those too...

Talk to Bob - he will help you find the flag you are after - 0800 HAGGIS.

Planning a Celtic wedding?

Bob will be attending the Waikato Wedding Expo Sunday, June 26th (9:30am to 4:00pm) at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion. Do come along, entry fee is only $10, and you could win a scenic helicopter flight over Hamilton! Bob has his own prize to give away, so be sure to visit the Celtic Connexions stall and put your name down to win a sterling silver Claddagh ring.

As you know, Celtic Connexions supply a stunning range of wedding bands, kiltware, quaichs, and Celtic gifts. Bob's skill on the bagpipes, small pipes and whistle make him a popular choice for couples wanting to walk down the isle in Scottish style. You can book Bob for your wedding - this usually includes piping in the bride to her chosen tune, and then a song or two during the signing of the register. Again, talk to Bob - he is happy to answer your questions, or give you a pamphlet.

That is all from us today, but we wish you all the best!

Bye for now,

Heidi Brown,

Bob Wallace.

Sale Still On!

Fàilte, Mateen Va

Since our windows were adorned by the yellow "closing down" signs, Celtic Connexions has experienced a new burst of life. Dragons and faeries are flying off the shelves, as are many of our Celtic knick-knacks. CDs and whistles are following the same tune - no doubt moving on to spread lively Celtic music all over the Waikato, and beyond! Many customers are walking away happy, having received an excellent deal on a new kilt, or a stunning piece of jewellery.

While our sale is proving to be a huge success, there are still plenty of bargains to be had, so do come in and see for yourself! If you are looking for a smart, quality kilt jacket, come in and see Bob - he will give you a good deal.

We are excited to announce our brand new website is up and running. We have kept our old web address, celt.co.nz, so you can find us easily. We hope the improvements will make your on-line shopping experience more straightforward and enjoyable. We are very pleased with the new look.

Bob has also been busy setting up a Clan Wallace website. You will be able to order custom made kilt ware, Clan crests, badges, pins, and more.

If you want a bit of cheering up this winter, check out the Scottish radio show Bob highly recommends - Andy's Ceilidh. Have a ball in your own living room!

That is all from me,

Chì mi rithist thu!

Art Pewter

Art Pewter

Thank you to everyone who ordered one of our lovely Soul Mate rings, featured in our last newsletter. Today we venture into art pewter jewellery (click on the link to see a larger selection on our facebook page where we would love you to like us!)

Celtic Knot Amethyst $55
Celtic Knot Amethyst $55

Thank you for the correction on the Robert Burns poem - the date should have been 1794 not 1974! I thought I would include another poem from Scotland, seeing as though the Art Pewter range is made there, and I think this particular poem uses stunning imagery of colours, not entirely unlike the beautiful spectrum of amethyst jewellery.

Mountain Twilight

The hills slipped over each on each
Till all their changing shadows died.
Now in the open skyward reach
The lights grow solemn side by side.
While of these hills the westermost
Rears high his majesty of coast
In shifting waste of dim-blue brine
   And fading olive hyaline;
Till all the distance overflows,
The green in watchet and the blue
In purple. Now they fuse and close -
   A darkling violet, fringed anew
With light that on the mountains soar,
A dusky flame on tranquil shores;
Kindling the summits as they grow
In audience to the skies that call,
Ineffable in rest and all
   The pathos of the afterglow.

William Renton 1893

Soul Mate

Posted 13 years, 10 months ago by Bob Wallace    5 comments

We have a NEW style of Celtic love ring available to order.

The ring is sterling silver with "ANAM-CHARAID" (Scots Gaelic for "Soul Mate") embosed around it.

Available in a range of sizes for men and women.

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That’s sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry:

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

- Robert Burns 1974
